Reveal’s Internship Program Enters 5th Year
In 2021, Reveal launched an Internship Program with a clear purpose: to give students the opportunity to bridge the gap between technical skill and business applications. From the beginning, the goal was to create more than just a summer experience, it was to build an environment where innovation meets impact. Throughout the program, students have explored the potential of a career in data science and consulting under the guidance of committed mentors. Together, they have tackled real problems in innovative and creative ways. As we enter our fifth year, we are proud to celebrate a milestone that reflects Reveal’s culture of innovation.
The Reveal Internship Program began when the company was a certified 8(a) small business with just a few clients and a handful of interns. What started as a small initiative has grown into a cornerstone of Reveal’s talent pipeline and culture. The Internship Program is housed in Reveal Labs, the company’s innovation hub which was designed to centralize research and talent development through experimentation. According to Reveal Labs Director Yezzi (Angi) Lee, “Working with talented students gives us fresh perspectives that broaden our thinking. They bring ideas that help us learn, adapt, and approach challenges in better ways.”
Many interns have successfully transitioned into full-time roles at Reveal, demonstrating the strength of our talent pipeline. One of the most notable success stories is Hector Ferronato, whose journey began even before the formal Internship Program was established. As an early intern, he worked on an AR smart city prototype for economic development. The success of his work was so impactful that it inspired Reveal to formalize and expand the internship initiative into the robust program we have today. Since then, Hector has continued to grow with the company and now serves as our Vice President of Engineering.
Similarly, Nicole Cabrera joined Reveal’s Internship Program as a PhD student, and during her internship she worked on a project that examined how Puerto Rican Spanish-speakers perceived and comprehended GPT-4o Spanish-translated survey items compared to their professionally translated counterparts. Since joining our team, her work has gone on to be recognized as a Burns “Bud” Roper Fellow by the American Association of Public Opinion Research. Nicole now works with Reveal Labs to manage our University Engagement Externship Program with Rutgers University, mentoring students through a semester-long project building dashboards using public data. Stories like Hector and Nicole’s remind us that our interns don’t just learn from us, they push us to think differently and continuously evolve.
At Reveal, we are passionate that learning happens through application. Our mentors encourage interns to “try fast and fail fast”, embracing experimentation and iteration as essential parts of growth. Collaboration is a fundamental part of our culture, and we work to solve complex problems. That means it’s not just about the outcome, but the process. In addition to real world application of skills, the program emphasizes mentorship and professional development, offering collaborative sessions like “Resume Building” and “Practicing Your Elevator Pitch.” These sessions are designed to prepare interns not just for the next step in their career, but for long-term success in any professional setting.
Most importantly, the Internship Program reflects who we are as a firm: a team that values encouraging and fostering innovation at every level. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also looking forward. Beginning next summer, we are excited to expand our internship offerings this summer to include UI/UX Designer and Media and Communications Interns, broadening opportunities for students to bring fresh perspectives to our projects.
We would like to thank every intern who has been a part of the Reveal journey. Your curiosity, innovative ideas, and hard work have made a lasting impact on our team and the clients we serve.
